Jewellery worth £40,000 stolen in Edinburgh raid

About £40,000 worth of antique jewellery has been stolen from an Edinburgh auctioneers.

The break-in happened in the early hours of Saturday at Shapes Furniture and Auction House on Bankhead Medway.

Det Con Joyce Gunderson, of Police Scotland, called it a "brazen crime" and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "Anyone who believes they have been offered the stolen items for sale should also get in touch."
