Portobello Beach death was 'tragic accident'

A 53-year-old man whose body was found at an Edinburgh beach died in a tragic accident, police have confirmed.

Mark Fraser, from Coillesdene Grove in Joppa, was understood to have been walking home along Esplanade Terrace after a Christmas night out.

It is believed he fell down steep concrete steps leading to Portobello beach. His body was found at about 06:30 on Sunday.

Police Scotland said there were no suspicious circumstances.
