Two charged after drugs and ammunition seized in Edinburgh

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of drugs and firearms ammunition in Edinburgh.

Last week officers carried out a series of raids on properties in Lower Granton Road, Captains Road and Burdiehouse Avenue.

Cocaine with an estimated value of about £113,000, cannabis, ammunition and a CS spray canister were recovered.

A 22-year-old man appeared in court and another man, also aged 22, is due to appeal later.

Both were charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act and Firearms Act.

Det Insp Stuart Harkness said: "These arrests reflect Police Scotland's continued commitment to tackling serious and organised crime groups operating in Edinburgh.

"Through working with the local communities and gathering vital intelligence from them it allows us to carry out these type of operations.

"A recovery of drugs to this value will have a significant impact on those involved in their distribution and the recovery of the ammunition and CS spray helps make our streets safer."
