Six men have been arrested and charged with a variety of offences following allegations of physical and sexual abuse at a Catholic school in Fife.

The men, in their 60s and 70s, have not yet appeared in court, and police said their investigations were live and continuing.

It is claimed the men abused pupils in the 1970s and 1980s at the former St Ninian's school in Falkland.

The school was run by the Christian Brothers religious order.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Six men have been arrested and charged with multiple complaints of physical and sexual abuse at the former St Ninian's School in Falkland, Fife, in the 70s and 80s.

"This investigation remains live and ongoing."
