Murder hunt after man attacked in Wester Hailes dies

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man who was attacked in Edinburgh died in hospital.

The 31-year-old was the victim of a serious assault in Dumbryden Gardens in Wester Hailes at about 16:30 on Friday 22 August.

He was transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and had been in a critical condition over the weekend.

Police Scotland are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Det Insp Grant Johnston, who is leading the inquiry, said: "A member of the public may hold a key piece of information that could assist with the investigation.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw anything in and around Dumbryden Gardens on Friday afternoon to get in touch as soon as possible."
