James Caven in court over murder of Colin Armstrong in Macmerry

A 38-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder after the discovery of a body in an East Lothian village.

Colin Armstrong, 49, was found dead at a property in Macmerry, near Tranent, on 7 October.

James Caven, 38, was charged with assault, murder and previously showing malice and ill-will when he appeared at Haddington Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Mr Caven also faces a charge under the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.
