A 22-year old man has been charged with assault following the death of a taxi driver in Dalkeith.

Ewan Wilson, from Gorebridge, made a brief appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

Thomas Milligan, 55, is thought to have died of a heart attack following the incident in Dalkeith's Lauder Road at about 01:20 on Sunday.

Mr Milligan's family earlier said: "Tam was a very much loved partner, father, grandfather and brother who will be sadly missed.

"He devoted his time to his work being a driving instructor and taxi driver.

"He loved socialising with his friends on a Sunday afternoon at the local pub and enjoyed listening to music."
