Man in court over Spar shop ram-raiding in Fife
A 25-year-old man from the West Midlands area of England has appeared in court in connection with a ram-raiding at a Spar shop in Fife.
David Balmer, from Manchester, was charged with housebreaking with intent to steal and vehicle theft at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Thursday.
He made no plea or no declaration and was remanded in custody.
Police received calls on Wednesday reporting a vehicle was ramming a shop on Main Street, East Wemyss.
Det Sgt Paul Dick, of Police Scotland, said: "The nature of this crime is extremely rare in Scotland and I am aware how shocked the community of East Wemyss have been by these events.
"However, I have been encouraged by the assistance we received from the public."
