Woman 'serious' after being hit by car in Livingston

A 49-year-old woman is in a serious condition after being hit by a car in West Lothian.

The woman got off a bus on Almondvale Road, Livingston, and was crossing the road when she was struck by a Volkswagen car, receiving serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at about 17:30 on Friday.

The road was closed for six hours while police carried out an investigation.

Sgt Neil Inglis said: "We are urgently seeking witnesses to this road traffic collision and anyone who was on Almondvale Road around 5.30pm, which would have been a busy time, is urged to contact police."

The woman is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where her condition has been described as serious but stable.
