Appeal after man's ribs broken in Edinburgh attack

Police are investigating after a man suffered broken ribs in a "serious assault" on an Edinburgh street.

The 29-year-old victim was attacked by two men on Gilmerton Road, near Glenallan Drive, between 06:00 and 07:00 on Saturday.

One of the suspects was about 5ft 11in (1.8m) tall, aged between 20 and 25 years, with ginger hair. He was wearing a light blue hoodie and navy blue bottoms, and spoke with a local accent.

Officers have appealed for information.

Sgt Robbie Wallace said: "This serious assault left the victim with three fractured ribs, and we are appealing for anyone who was in Gilmerton Road between 06:00 and 07:00 to get in touch with police."
