Fife crash leaves teenage driver seriously injured

A teenager is in hospital with serious injuries after his car left the road and landed on its roof in a ditch.

The 19-year-old male driver was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The incident happened westbounf on the westbound B939 Pitscottie to St Andrews road, near Ladeddie in Fife, at 19:50 on Wednesday.

Two female passengers aged 16 and 17 sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services attended the scene.

Police urged anyone who can help with their inquiries to come forward.

Insp Brenda Sinclair said: "We would also like to remind people travelling on rural roads to drive to the road conditions and to expect the unexpected. There may be a deer or a farm animal in the middle of the road round the next the bend."
