Edinburgh has announced a line up of 40 musicians from across the world for its annual Jazz and Blues Festival.

From Mexican jazz rock to Mississippi blues, Italian super brass to classic Dixieland, this year offers enthusiasts a chance to soak up some of the best music the genre has to offer.

Organisers said they expected to attract record audiences again as the festival reaches its 38th year.

The city will be in full swing from 17-26 July.

George Benson and Jools Holland are amongst the household names attending but the team behind the event said Edinburgh stands out because of the emerging talent that comes to the city in this increasingly popular music scene.

Brian Fallon, Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival chairman, said: "The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival has never been stronger.

"Last year we had record attendances, record sales, and a feast of high quality music. 2015 looks set to be another record-breaker, and we look forward to welcoming old and new friends."

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: "This year will be another great showcase of jazz and blues from across the world for both national and international audiences."
