Woman suffers head and body injuries in attack by couple

A woman suffered injuries to her head and body in a serious assault involving two women and a couple.

The 33-year-old victim needed hospital treatment after the incident in Springwell Place and Dalry Road, Edinburgh.

A woman, aged 22, also sustained minor injuries to her head.

The incident happened between 23:00 and 23:15 on Monday. Police are appealing for witnesses.

The first suspect is described as a white man, 5ft 9in tall, of gaunt appearance, with a slim build. He was wearing a grey cotton hooded tracksuit top and trousers.

The second suspect is a white female, 5ft 9in tall, in her late 20s, with a slim build.

She had dark hair in a bun, a gaunt appearance and an Edinburgh accent. She was wearing light-coloured skinny jeans and black flat sandals.

DC Joyce Gunderson, of Police Scotland, said: "We're urging any witnesses who may be able to assist with our inquiries to come forward.

"We're particularly eager to speak to a taxi driver who took the victims from Dalry Road to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary shortly after the incident."
