KLM Amsterdam to Edinburgh flight turns back after emergency

A flight from Amsterdam to Edinburgh turned back after declaring a mid-air emergency over the North Sea.

KLM 1277 flight is thought to have developed a technical problem and returned to Schiphol airport in the Dutch city.

The plane "squawked" 7700, a general emergency code before it turned back.

The Boeing 737 landed safely at Amsterdam on runway 18 at around 08:15. There are no details of the emergency at this time.
