A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a man found dead at a flat in Dunfermline on Thursday.

Daniel Ross, 26, was charged over the death of Gavin Ross in the Fife town's Abbeyview area.

Mr Ross, 28, was found in a second floor flat, next to the Abbeyview library, at about 20:30 that night following reports of a disturbance.

The accused made a brief private appearance on petition facing a charge of murder and was remanded in custody.

He was further accused of assaulting police in a charge brought under the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act.

Daniel Ross is expected to make a further court appearance next week.

In a statement issued via Police Scotland, Gavin Ross's family said: "Gavin was a much loved son, father, brother and nephew and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

"We are still in shock with the loss of Gavin and we respectively ask to be left alone to grieve in private at this very difficult and sad time."
