Teenager has jaw broken in attack in Midlothian
A teenager has sustained a double broken jaw in an attack after he got off a bus in Midlothian.
The 17-year-old had just left the number three bus at about 17:45 on Wednesday at Bogwood Road in Mayfield, Dalkeith when he was assaulted.
Police said passengers would have witnessed the attack as their bus travelled past, and urged witnesses to come forward.
The teenager has since undergone surgery to treat his injuries.
Det Con William Dickson, of Police Scotland, said: "This was a particularly violent incident which has resulted in a teenage male suffering a double fracture which has required surgery.
"The bus he had been travelling on continued on its journey southbound and a number of people on that number 3 service would have witnessed this assault. I am keen to speak to any passengers who saw what happened and may be able to assist our enquiries."
