Teenagers in court over Lochgelly attack

Two teenagers have appeared in court following an attack on a man outside a shop in Fife.

The 22-year-old was assaulted outside the Premier Stores on Francis Street in Lochgelly on Saturday night.

He was treated for his injuries at Victoria Hospital, where he was said to be in a stable condition.

Two youths, both of Lochgelly, appeared in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Keiran McAlpine, 19, was charged with assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.

He was also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, the Crown Office said.

The second teenager, a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both made no plea or declaration. They were released on bail to appear in court at a later date.
