Kirkcaldy street death treated as murder

The death of a man found with stab wounds in a Kirkcaldy street is being treated as murder, police have confirmed.

Darren Adie, 42, was discovered unconscious at about 18:45 on Tweed Avenue, near its junction with Lawson Street, on Saturday.

He was taken to the town's Victoria Hospital but later died.

Following a post-mortem examination, police said they believed Mr Adie had been murdered.

Det Ch Insp Raymond Brown said: "Our condolences go to Darren's family and friends at this extremely difficult time. A thorough and robust investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding Darren's death.

"I want to thank the community for their cooperation so far and urge anyone with information who has not yet come forward to get in touch."

Officers have said they believe Mr Adie's death to have been an "isolated incident", but high visibility patrols are being carried out to reassure the local community.
