Teenager seriously hurt in 'unprovoked' attack in Edinburgh

A teenager has been seriously injured during an "unprovoked" attack on an Edinburgh street.

The 18-year-old victim was walking with another man on Niddrie House Park when they were attacked at about 04:00 on Saturday.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he remains in a serious condition.

It is understood he was stabbed in the attack. Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Detectives from Edinburgh CID are appealing for information.

Det Insp Roddy Hardy said: "There will be a visible police presence over the course of this weekend as we seek information from local residents and to provide a reassuring presence.

"I urge anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area of Niddrie House Park in the early hours of Saturday, 18 June, to come forward."
