Edinburgh knife attack treated as attempted murder

Two men who attacked a man with a knife are being sought for his attempted murder in Edinburgh.

The 57-year-old sustained numerous injuries after being attacked repeatedly by the men on Sighthill Avenue at about 21:45 on Tuesday.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The first attacker was white with a tanned complexion, about 40 years old, 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build.

He had grey curly hair, a grey goatee/moustache, was wearing dark jogging bottoms, a blue top with orange arms and was using a walking stick.

The second attacker was white with a gaunt complexion, 30 to 35 years old, 6ft tall and of medium build.

He had dark hair and was wearing jeans and a blue padded jacket.

Det Sgt Andrina Cunningham ,of Police Scotland,: "This was a violent and sustained attack which we're currently treating as attempted murder.

"We'd urge anyone who may have seen this, or recognises the descriptions of the suspects, to get in touch as soon as possible.

"The two men were seen shortly beforehand talking to a woman on the grass near the junction with Calder Road, who we're also eager to speak to."
