Man knocked down by bus in Edinburgh seriously hurt

A man is in hospital with serious leg injuries after being knocked down by a double-decker bus in Edinburgh.

It happened at about 18:10 on Wednesday on Duddingston Row near to its junction with Bingham Avenue.

The 33-year-old man was hit by the Volvo bus as it pulled away from a bus stop on the southbound carriageway.

The male driver of the number 4 Lothian Bus stopped at the scene and the injured man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

He is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Witnesses are being urged to contact police.

Sgt Kos Papakyriakou, of Police Scotland, said: "As part of our ongoing inquiries we are keen to hear from any bus passengers, motorists or other members of the public who witnessed this incident and I would urge them to contact police immediately."
