The death of a baby girl after an incident at a West Lothian homeless families' unit in June is now being treated as suspicious by police.

Three-month-old Sophia Williams died in Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children after falling ill at Strathbrock family unit in Broxburn.

She passed away on 5 June after a week of treatment.

Police Scotland initially said the death was being treated as "unexplained".

Det Insp Rory Hamilton, of Police Scotland, said: "We are now treating the death of Sophia Williams as suspicious.

"Our investigation continues as we work towards establishing the full set of circumstances that led to Sophia's death and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
