Man seriously injured in Edinburgh attack
A man has suffered "serious wounds" after being attacked in broad daylight in the centre of Edinburgh.
The 32-year-old victim was assaulted by two men on Waterloo Place at about 12:40 on Wednesday.
His attackers then left in a white car towards Regent Road.
Police said the victim "sustained a number of serious wounds". The area was cordoned off and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers said the area where the attack happened - which is just past the east end of Princes Street - would have been very busy with lunchtime shoppers at the time, and appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
