Woman and children rescued from Elie chain walk in Fife
A woman and children have been rescued after getting stuck on rocks in Fife.
Coastguard teams were called to the chain walk at Elie at about 15:00.
A spokesman said crews from St Andrews and Leven responded to a report that three people were stranded but when they arrived five people needed rescued.
Some were airlifted by helicopter off the rocks while others were reached by ground-based teams. Anstruther lifeboat was also sent to the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We received a report of four people stuck on a cliff, near to the Elie chain walk.
"The incident happened around 3pm on Tuesday 2 August.
"Following a multi-agency response involving the coastguard, fire service and ambulance service, a woman in her 40s and three children - aged 8, 8, 14 - are currently being rescued."
The Elie chain walk involves using chains to scramble along part of the Fife coastline.
