Man seriously injured in attack outside a Fife takeaway
Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted outside a takeaway in Fife.
The attack happened at about 02:20 on Sunday outside the Dervish takeaway on Bell Street, St Andrews.
The 20-year-old was leaving the Vic bar in St Mary's Place when he started a conversation with an unknown man, which turned into an argument.
He and his friends walked away from the man, who reappeared with several others and attacked him.
The attacker made off in an unknown direction.
His victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.
The attacker has a pale complexion, slim build, is aged between 18 and 20 years old and is about 5ft 4ins tall. He was wearing a baseball cap backwards, skinny jeans and a zipped hoodie.
Det Sgt Paula Warrender, of Police Scotland, said: "I want to hear from anyone who recognises the description of the assailant or who witnessed this violent attack.
"Similarly, anyone who had been within the Vic bar around the time of this incident and who has information relevant to our ongoing investigation is asked to contact police immediately."
