Woman sexually harassed in Edinburgh street

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually harassed in Edinburgh.

The incident happened between 05:30 and 06:00 on Friday and started in Ferry Road.

The 19-year-old was walking to a bus stop when a man followed her and made inappropriate comments towards her.

After becoming concerned by the man's behaviour, the woman raised the alarm with a passerby while she waited at a bus stop on Crewe Road South.

The man then waited with her until she boarded a bus.

The suspect was described as white, about 25 years old, about 5ft 7ins tall with an average build, clean-shaven and was wearing a grey hooded top.

Det Con Nicole Napier said: "This incident left the woman feeling very distressed and we are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to trace the man responsible.

"As part of this investigation we would also like to trace the man who waited with the victim at the bus stop, as he may have useful information.

"We would ask him to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone with any further information, or who witnessed this incident, should also get in touch."
