CCTV issued in connection with serious attack in Edinburgh

CCTV images of two men police want to speak to in connection with a serious assault in Edinburgh have been released.

The incident happened at about 01:30 on Sunday 29 January on Frederick Street, outside the Co-op store.

An 18-year-old man was attacked and sustained serious facial injuries.

The first man is white, in his late 20s or early 30s, of medium build, with short hair or balding. He was wearing a blue or grey long-sleeved top.

There was a shirt underneath his top, and he was wearing dark trousers and dark shoes.

The second man is white, in his late 20s or early 30s, of stocky build and with short dark hair.

At the time, he was wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

PC Darrin Scott, of Police Scotland, said: "This assault left the victim with some painful injuries to his face, which required hospital treatment.

"We are keen to trace both individuals seen on these images as part of our investigation and would ask anyone who can assist in identifying them to contact police immediately."
