Man charged over attempted robbery in Methil

A man has been charged following an attempted robbery in Fife.

A woman was working in the Premier Express store in Chemiss Road, Methil, when a man entered and demanded money at about 10:40 on Thursday.

There was a struggle and the shop assistant fought the man off, who then fled from the store.

A 34-year-old was later detained by police officers at a house in Kirk Park. He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

PC David Birrell, of Police Scotland, said: "Thanks to the bravery of the shop assistant, this robbery attempt was unsuccessful and a male is now in custody."
