Boy, 13, charged over hare coursing

A 13-year-old boy has been charged over hare coursing in Dalkeith.

The alleged incident happened at about 16:30 on Friday when a number of males were seen in fields east of the town with two lurcher-type dogs.

Police said the 13-year-old would be reported to the Children's Reporter.

Sgt Stuart Aitchison, of Dalkeith police station, said: "We recognise the impact that hare coursing has on rural communities and remain committed to investigating all reports of this."
