Men charged over knifepoint robbery in Edinburgh

Two men have been charged by police in connection with assault and robbery in two incidents in north Edinburgh.

The first incident happened at about 15:10 on Friday 24 November outside the Day 2 Day store on Pennywell Road.

A 45-year-old man was robbed of his wallet in Edinburgh by two men, one of whom had a knife. Two men, aged 42 and 32, will appear in court at a later date.

The 32-year-old has also been charged with an incident in Granton Medway.

A man had entered a house at about 18:00 on Sunday 26 November and threatened the owners before stealing a number of their possessions.

He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

Ch Insp Stevie Sutherland, of Police Scotland, said: "Fortunately the victims were both uninjured in these incidents but were left understandably very shaken.

"We are committed to tackling crimes of violence and dishonesty in North Edinburgh and will use all resources at our disposal to bring the perpetrators of violent crime before the courts."
