Murder probe after man, 29, dies

A murder investigation has been launched after a man who was found with a serious head injury in Glasgow died in hospital.

Police said Paul Woods, 29, was discovered in Maryhill Road, opposite the Maryhill Tavern, at about 2200 BST on Wednesday.

He died in the city's Southern General Hospital on Thursday morning.

A post-mortem examination will be held to establish the cause of death. Police have appealed for information.

Det Insp John Kennedy, of Strathclyde Police, said: "Extensive police inquiries are ongoing in the local area and officers are currently carrying out door-to-door enquires and studying CCTV footage in an effort to glean further information on this crime.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area of Maryhill Road opposite the Maryhill Tavern around 2200 hours on Wednesday night, or anyone with information regarding this murder to come forward to police."
