Fire crews tackle warehouse blaze in Irvine

About 60 firefighters were called on to tackle a blaze at a disused warehouse in Ayrshire.

The fire began at the two-story factory unit at North Newmoor industrial estate, Irvine, at about 1600 BST on Wednesday.

No-one was hurt, although neighbouring factory units were evacuated and nearby roads closed due to heavy smoke.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Strathclyde Police.
