One dead and three hurt in crash

A 42-year-old woman has died and a man and two children have been injured in a road crash on the A76 in Ayrshire.

Police said a 36-year-old man was driving a Toyota Avensis when he lost control and crashed near New Cumnock, killing his front seat passenger.

The driver suffered leg injuries and a 12-year-old girl and four-year-old boy, who were sitting in the back seats, were treated for minor injuries.

Strathclyde Police said the accident happened at about 1830 BST on Sunday.

A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
