Glasgow shop taking raiders steal five-figure sum

Shop takings worth a five figure sum have been stolen from a woman heading to the bank from a Glasgow store.

The 44-year-old woman was left traumatised after she was targeted when she left the Spar shop in Cathcart Road.

A van blocked her exit in Boyd Street and a man smashed the front passenger window to grab the bag of takings.

Strathclyde Police said at least two men were involved in the attack, which happened at about 1145 GMT.

Officers said the woman had suffered a "terrifying ordeal".

Det Con John Morrison added: "At this time we are looking for two, possibly three, suspects - the van driver who obstructed the victim's car and the second man who stole the sum of money.

"We also believe this man may have got out of a second vehicle - a silver-coloured car - so there may be a third suspect who was driving this.

"It is clear that this was a targeted attack, therefore the suspects may have been watching the shop for some time."

He urged anyone who may have witnessed the attack or seen the men near the store to come forward.

The van invloved was a white Vauxhall Astra.
