'Violent' attack was murder bid

A 20-year-old man was stabbed repeatedly in a "violent and premeditated attack" in Glasgow in the early hours.

Police said the man was walking along Queen Victoria Drive in Scotstoun with two friends at about 0550 GMT when a car pulled up alongside them.

Two men got out of the car and chased the three friends.

The victim was stabbed repeatedly about the body. His condition was said to be "extremely serious".

His two friends - one male and one female - were not injured.

Det Insp Fil Capaldi said his inquiries were at an early stage.

"At this time we know that two people were involved, however there are no descriptions of both suspects," he said.

"What I can say is this was a violent and premeditated attack which was intended to cause the victim grave injuries."
