Man, 25, found seriously injured

A 25-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after being found with serious injuries in Lanark.

The man was found at the back of the Scottish Agricultural College in the town's High Street at 0905 GMT on Saturday.

He is currently receiving treatment at Glasgow Southern General Hospital.

Strathclyde Police said it was unclear how he had received his injuries and have launched an appeal for any information surrounding the incident.

Det Insp David Tassie said the victim was last seen by his girlfriend at about 2330 GMT on Friday near the Tesco supermarket in Lanark's Gallowhill Road.

Officers are checking local CCTV and carrying out local inquiries.
