Man, 19, stabbed in Glasgow street disturbance

A teenager is seriously ill after being stabbed in a Glasgow street in a disturbance involving about 12 men.

The 19-year-old man was making his way home from a party in Kennishead Avenue when he was caught up in the trouble at about 0300 GMT on Saturday.

Strathclyde Police said he was found suffering from stab wounds before being taken to the city's Victoria Infirmary.

His condition is described as "serious but stable" in the hospital's high dependency unit.

The force said that those involved in the disturbance were thought to be between 16 to 24 years of age.

It is not known how many people attacked the victim.

Officers have carried out door-to-door inquiries in the area and are scouring all available CCTV in an effort to trace those responsible.

'Full recovery'

Pollok CID, Det Con Nick Gribben said: "At this time we know the victim was walking along Kennishead Avenue following a party at a nearby house, when he became involved in an altercation involving around 12 other males.

"We do not know how this kicked off, and the motive for this disturbance is something we are working to establish.

"The victim has received several stab wounds during this, and is in a very poor condition in hospital.

"He is expected to make a full recovery, however, we are all too aware of the implications knife crime can have and the person(s) responsible must be traced."

Mr Gribben has appealed for anyone who was in the area when the attack took place or who has information to get in touch.
