Teenager escapes abduction attempt in Cardonald

Police have appealed for information after an attempted abduction of a girl in Cardonald on Friday evening.

The 15-year-old was walking along Tarfside Oval at 2120 GMT when the driver of a dark blue people carrier style vehicle stopped beside her.

The man attempted to engage her in conversation before getting out of his vehicle, grabbing her by the arm and attempting to pull her towards his car.

She managed to break free and escaped unhurt.

The man is described as being about 6ft 2in tall, well built, with dark untidy hair, and a tanned or dirty unshaven complexion.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a pale blue short sleeved t-shirt and light blue jeans. He is also described as having distinctively bushy eyebrows and hairy arms.

Det Sgt Greig Wilkie said: "Tarfside Oval is a residential area and I am certain that there may be some local residents who may have seen the suspect or his vehicle and may have seen or heard a disturbance in the street at around 2120 hours.

"I would therefore ask them to come forward to assist with our enquiry, no matter how trivial they believe their information to be."
