OAP robbed in Paisley by 'despicable coward'

Police are hunting a "despicable coward" who left an 84-year-old woman with a fractured shoulder after robbing her in the street in Renfrewshire.

The man grabbed a carrier bag from the pensioner while she was walking between Calside and Neilston Road, Paisley, at about 1045 BST on Wednesday.

She was knocked to the ground during the attack and treated for her injuries in the town's Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police have no description of the man but have appealed for witnesses.

He was last seen running off in the direction of Neilston Road.

Det Sgt Jim Connolly, from Strathclyde Police, said: "The man responsible for this crime is despicable, clearly a coward who has preyed on an extremely vulnerable woman.

"Unfortunately, due to the fact that the suspect came up behind her, we do not have a full description of him, however, I feel sure that someone knows who he is and I would urge them to please get in touch with us.

"This lady has been left injured and badly shaken by the ordeal."
