Police appeal after car 'driven deliberately at man'

Police have said a man is lucky to be alive after he was deliberately hit by a vehicle in Glasgow's west end.

The 35-year-old is thought to have left Boho nightclub in Dumbarton Road with friends at about 0300 GMT and was involved in a disturbance involving a number of men in nearby Church Street.

Police said a vehicle was then driven at the man but officers currently have no information about the make or model.

The incident is being treated as attempted murder.

Strathclyde Police said the man was being treated in the city's Western Infirmary for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Det Sgt Sandy Johnston said: "We are currently working to establish how many people were involved in the disturbance, and will be checking all available CCTV from in and around the area throughout the day.

"At this time we have no information on the car and would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw or heard the disturbance, or indeed a car driving at speed from the area.

"A young man is lucky to be alive right now, and those responsible must be traced."
