Man in court over BBC crew attack at Barras Market
A man has appeared in court charged with attacking a BBC reporter and film crew at the Barras Market in Glasgow.
Alexander Quinn, 57, is alleged to have assaulted undercover reporter Samantha Poling as she filmed a documentary into the illegal tobacco trade on 9 January.
Co-accused Brian Mair, 54, is charged with breaching the peace and inciting others to attack a BBC camera crew.
The two men made no plea or declaration at Glasgow Sheriff Court and were released on bail.
Mr Quinn, from Glasgow, was charged with grabbing Miss Poling's clothing and pushing her at the market.
He was also accused of pushing BBC employee John Morrison, possessing a weapon and breaching the peace by shouting and swearing and brandishing a metal pole.
Mr Mair, also from Glasgow, was charged with breaching the peace by shouting, swearing and inciting others to attack a BBC camera crew and vandalise a car.
They are due to appear again next week for full committal.
