Man 'scarred for life' in Easterhouse attack

A man has been scarred for life by a "terrible assault" in Glasgow with a bladed weapon, police have said.

The 48-year-old was approached from behind while walking along Lochdochart Road towards Dalilea Drive, Easterhouse at about 2120 GMT on Friday.

The man managed to make his way to a house and call for help.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance where he was treated for facial and head injuries. He has since been released from hospital.

Strathclyde Police said they thought the man was attacked by a "bladed weapon" but did not yet have a description of the suspect or suspects.

Det Con Gillian McKay said: "This was a horrific attack on this man who will be scarred for life as a result of this terrible assault."

An "extensive" investigation, including scrutinising CCTV footage, is being carried out by police, who have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about the attack to contact them.
