Man jailed over £15,000 robbery in Alexandria

A man who robbed a security guard of £15,000 at knifepoint has been jailed for six years.

Steven Gunn and another man stole the cash during a delivery outside the Royal Bank of Scotland in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, in December.

Gunn was caught by police getting into a taxi a short distance away.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that officers found him with a bag containing the cash, a knife, a dark woollen hat and a scarf.

Gunn, from Glasgow's Shettleston area, admitted assaulting and robbing the guard.

Sentencing him, Judge Rita Rae said: "Armed robbery is something which the courts have always taken a very serious view of."
