Man slashed by youths in 'horrific' attack in Glasgow

Police are hunting three youths who left a 24-year-old man scarred for life after slashing him during a "horrific" attack in the south side of Glasgow.

The victim was assaulted while walking from Dixon Avenue onto Cathcart Road, in the city's Govanhill area, at about 1845 GMT on Saturday.

He was taken to the Victoria Infirmary and released after treatment.

The three youths, who are all white and aged between 16 and 20, made off along Dixon Avenue after the attack.

The first suspect was wearing a black hooded top and black jogging trousers.

The second suspect was wearing a cream skip cap. The third suspect was wearing a red and white top.

Det Con Claire McNish, of Strathclyde Police, said: "This was a horrific assault on the man which will leave him permanently scarred as a result of his injuries.

"Cathcart Road at Dixon Avenue is fairly busy at this time on a Saturday evening and I am sure someone would have seen the assault take place.

"I would urge anyone who saw this assault or has any information on the three men responsible to contact Gorbals Police Office."
