Man, 39, shot in his Renfrewshire home

Police are treating an attack on a 39-year-old man who was shot in his Renfrewshire home as attempted murder.

The shooting happened in a house in Ellon Drive, Linwood, on Monday. The victim is being treated for injuries which are not life-threatening.

Police said they had no doubt the man had been targeted. They want to trace a car which was seen in the area between 1600 and 2000 GMT.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Det Insp Colin Carey, from Strathclyde Police, said: "Firstly I would like to re-assure the public that we have no doubt that this was a targeted attack and not a random incident.

"That said, we are carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident

"Following our inquiries we are asking the public in the area around Ellon Drive to contact us if they saw a suspicious car in the area on Monday from 1600 to 2000 hours.

"Residents will be familiar with cars in their area and are best placed to be able to tell us if anything was out of the ordinary."
