Probe after teenager hit by car in Maryhill disturbance

A teenager has been seriously injured after being hit by a car as it drove away from a group of men in Glasgow.

The 19-year-old man was outside a house in Maryhill's Campbell Street, at the Sandbank Street junction, at about 0220 GMT when the incident happened.

Two men, aged 23 and 19, got into a Vauxhall Insignia, which was then surrounded by a group who tried to get into it as it was being driven away.

The teenager, who was with the group, suffered head injuries as a result.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but was later transferred to the city's Southern General Hospital.

Sgt David Stenhouse, of the force's road policing unit, said: "Its important we establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

"A man has been seriously injured as a result of being struck by a car.

"I would appeal to anyone who was there at the time or who may have information with regard to the incident to contact the police as a matter of urgency."
