Doosan Power Systems to create 700 jobs in Renfrew

A Korean engineering firm has announced plans to create up to 700 new jobs in Scotland in a move which could also create an extra 1,000 supply jobs.

Doosan Power Systems, which already has a plant in Renfrew, Renfrewshire, is to locate a research centre in the area employing up to 200 people.

It is also searching for a Scottish location for a manufacturing plant which could employ up to 500 staff.

When complete, this could create 1,000 additional jobs supplying the plant.

The announcement, which was made along with First Minister Alex Salmond, follows two other international renewable energy companies choosing Clydeside for their research bases.
