Loch Etive missing fisherman search called off

The search has been called off for a fisherman who has been missing since his boat capsized on Loch Etive.

There were five people on board the vessel when it overturned in the loch, north of Oban, at about 1600 BST on Saturday.

Four of them managed to swim to the shoreline and raise the alarm.

Helicopters had been scrambled but Clyde Coastguard said the land and sea searches failed to locate the missing man.

Coastguard rescue officers from Oban and Appin carried out a shoreline search on Saturday and Sunday. Mountain rescue teams were also involved.

A scaled-down search of the shoreline, using sniffer dogs, resumed on Monday morning.
