John Huitema posted child abuse images on Facebook

A man who sexually abused a two-year-old girl was caught after he posted images of the attack on Facebook.

Police arrived at the Glasgow home of Dutch national John Huitema after being alerted by a child protection agency.

They later found 7,269 indecent images of children on his computer.

The 37-year-old admitted sexually assaulting the child and possessing or making indecent images of children. Sentence was deferred and he was placed on the sex offenders register.

The High Court in Glasgow heard how Huitema was caught when police received information from the Child Exploitation and On-Line Protection Services.

It reported that the user of the Facebook profiles 'Benwwantsit' and 'Barrywwantit' had posted indecent images.

Officers arrived at Huitema's house in Glasgow's west end in January and asked him to provide passwords for his computer.

He provided the information and then told officers he wanted to "get something off my chest".

Huitema confessed that he had downloaded indecent images.

He later showed officers a computer, two laptops and a number of CDs.

The court heard that Huitema also told police he had posted a picture of himself abusing the toddler and that he had "quite a few reactions from people who seemed to like it".

Judge Lady Dorrian deferred sentence until next month for reports.
