Govan street attack was 'attempted murder'

A serious assault on a man in the Govan area of Glasgow is being treated as attempted murder, police have said.

The 40-year-old was attacked by another man as he was walking along Govan Road, at Clachan Drive, at about 2305 BST on Monday.

The victim is in a serious but stable condition in Southern General Hospital.

Police said the attack did not appear to be random. The suspect wore a striped top, dark trousers and was carrying a small satchel-type bag.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
